Carpineti, a
small village at the feet of the dorsal of the Valestra peak,
has its centre in the palace of the Amorotti. From the fascinating
mountain dominating the village, You can clearly perceive the
ruins of the castle of Carpineti, a matildic important fortress.
The ridge running from the castle to the peak of Valestra can
lead you to the byzantine parish of S. Vitale for a charming
walk between history and culture.
Thanks to his flourishing and changing territory, to its charming
festivals and markets, to its ancient residential agglomerates
and to its characteristic tower houses, thanks to its naturalistic
beauties, its facilities and to its gastronomic traditions,
the region of Carpineti is very well appreciated by tourists.
We suggest a walk to Marola, oasis for tourism, famous for its
chestnut festival in October but, above all, for its restaured
matildic parish, a spiritual centre for all the region. Some
very interesting walk can lead you to some unknown monuments,
like the castle of Mandra. This land has been crossed by some
cultural itineraries like the Way of Matilde and the Spallanzani
walk.
