Casina

Castle of Leguigno

Panoramic view from Casina
This municipality is an important link between the hills and the higher mountains that used to work as a defensive lace for the matildic territory. Casina, bound once to the town by a western passage facing Canossa, profits today of the gallery SS 63 leading to Reggio Emilia and to Castelnovo Monti. After Casina, pleasant village laying on the Way of Matilde, the visitor can enjoy some walks to the stony or wood-made villages in the surrondings (Bergogno, Croveglia, Monchio dei Ferri, Giandeto), to the old matildic parishes (Beleo, Pianzo, Paullo), and to the peculiar tower houses, dominating the smaller residential centres. The castle of Sarzano, on the way from Canossa to Carpineti, still represents an important naturalistic and monumental site. Don't miss a visit to the charming matildic castle of Leguigno.
