Cavriago

Zanti Square

Panoramic view from plane
Cavriago, just like Bibbiano, does not offer impressive monumental emergences even if this village, introducing you gently to the main characteristics of the matildic territory, has an ancient tradition, dating back to the IX century; and even if the local castle is marked by some traces of numerous battles and occupations (it was an important defensive passage, not far from Reggio's centre). The people from Reggio are responsible of the complete destruction of the castle at the end of the XVth century. A small heap, dominated by the church of St Terenziano, witnesses its presence once. Cavriago, expressing a rich agricultural tradition, has a celebrated gastronomic reputation, made of good restaurants, cheese and vinegar factories. Don't miss its shopping occasion for italian clothings.
