Lesignano Bagni

Abbey Badia Cavana

A "Barboj"
The name of this village reminds us of its ancient thermal opportunities, recently suspended.
In the small village of Rivalta a very curious landscape of small craters ejecting mud, gas and salty waters (called 'barboj' by the people) witnesses the continuity of the thermal activity all along the regions of Parma and Piacenza, to the famous therms of Salsomaggiore e Monticelli. Visitors should have a walk to the parish of San Michele, or, much more important, to the small village of San Michele Cavana, three km from Lesignano where you will be surprised by the charming abbey of San Michele, founded in 1111 by San Bernardo degli Uberti, bishop of Parma, helped by the important contribution of Matilde di Canossa.
