Neviano degli Arduini

Campora's valley

The matildic procession at the Sasso parish
This municipality, owing its name to the Lords who hold the land during the centuries, lies on the parmesan hills facing the Enza's valley. The sweet hillish landscape, with the inviting park of Monte Fuso (access from Scurano) is remarkable, but not less important is the cultural tradition of the area: some first traces date back to the roman age, but the first village ruins derive from a Lombardic civilization, and have been exploited during the matildic reign. The houses are made of stone, in the apenninic style, just like the severe S.Eufemia parish, near the ancient castle, or the beautiful Pieve di Sasso, celebrated every year by a charming costume festival. Walks are suggested to the lombardic baptisimal font of the church of Bazzano or to discover the many defensive houses and towers of the area (in La Costa, near Bazzano, near the monte Castello, near Pozzolo and Nigressano, near the main centre), or to the parish of Scurano, revealing some romanesque traces.
