The matildic parish |

The centre |
 |
|
 |
Comprised between
the valleys of the Tresinaro and the Secchia, between the region
of Carpineti and Modena, this area is particularly rich in ancient
villages like Cavola, Stiano, Manno, Frale (with its oratory
Prevedelli), the thermal roman station of Quara and Cadignano.
Some charming tower-houses or portals made of sandstone will
make your walks an interesting discovery itinerary. The original
core of the residential centre was, as it is witnessed by the
ruins of the parish and of the defensive tower, on the hills
behind actual centre. The church of S. Maria, with its superb
sculpture and severe romanesque structure, is one of the most
ancient parishes of all the region and it still holds a diplome
by Ottone II in 980. Some monumental visits should be paid to
the parish of San Michele Arcangelo in Manno, of matildic origin,
or to the tower bell of Corneto built by the family of the Cecati,
famous architect and carvers of the XVII century.
